Rodeo de Taos ropes up some fun for Taoseños

The festivities began around 1 p.m.
While including the traditional rodeo fare such as bull riding — “always a crowd-pleaser” — and team roping — “we’ve even got a few locals in there” — this year's rodeo will see plenty for the kids to do, as well. Baca said the expanded focus on kids’ events was a result of decreased adult competition this year, likely because of the high cost of fuel.
The New Mexico Rodeo Association informed him earlier this week that there would be up to 200 competitors at this year’s rodeo — which is co-sanctioned in Arizona and Colorado and is one of the biggest in New Mexico — down from more than 300 last year.
