Seven members of the 2016 football team received All-District honors at the end-of-the season coaches meeting held Nov. 7. One Taos sophomore, three juniors and three seniors were recognized for their efforts in their respective positions.
Making the list was sophomore running back Adam Vigil; junior quarterback Jude Suazo; junior lineman Amos Duran; junior tight-end Santiago Cortez; senior wide-receiver Ronnie Salazar; senior running back Ryan McCarty; and senior lineman Johnny Montaño.
Now that the 2016 football season has officially concluded with the state championships wrapping up Dec. 3, the All-State teams and the North-South All-Stars are set to be named. Meetings are slated to take place in the coming week to make those selections, and Taos will find out if any of its players will be recognized as such.
The Tigers had six players on the All-District team in 2015. “Slowly but surely, we’re increasing the numbers of outstanding players coming out of Taos,” said Coach Art Abreu, who recognized his players ceremoniously at Taos High School Dec. 2. “These guys are laying a solid foundation for the rest of the team.”
