The senior center in Amalia will be closed for at least a month in order to bring the facility into compliance with fire, electrical, mechanical and other building codes.
The closure began Tuesday (Sept. 5), according to Senior Center Program Director Michael Trujillo.
Due to the closure, the senior program's Questa location will deliver hot meals to homebound seniors in Amalia during the week. During the weekends, frozen meals will be delivered as usual by the Amalia driver.
For seniors wishing to eat a congregate meal at the Questa location, a van will be available from 8 to 9 a.m. Mondays through Fridays. The van will be parked at the Amalia parking lot, where seniors can park their cars until they are transported back to Amalia after their meal, according to Trujillo.
If seniors in Amalia need transportation services, contact the Questa location manager, Mellie Rodriguez, at (575) 586-0508. Trujillo asked seniors to make arrangements 24 hours in advance.
