Business brief: Helping older workers find jobs

Posted

The New Mexico Aging and Long-Term Services Department helps older workers find jobs through its 50+ Employment Connection. Staff and volunteers can help those older than age 50 "polish resumes, develop 'networking' cards, improve interview skills and more. The program also works with employers to help them understand the benefits of employing older adults," according to a department statement.

The Aging and Long-Term Services Department reported that from July 1, 2016, to June 30, 2017, about half of the 750 people served at the 50+ Employment Connection found a job.

The department's closest 50+ Employment Connection office to Taos is in Santa Fe, and it can be reached at (505) 476-4623. Services provided by 50+ Employment Connection offices vary according to the skills of staff and volunteers in each office.
