Cold snap headed to New Mexico tonight


The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather outlook for Taos County and other parts of New Mexico as extremely cold temperatures are expected to hit the state tonight. 

According to the agency's Albuquerque office, temperatures in several mountain valley's are expected to drop below zero Tuesday evening (Jan. 2). 

Temperatures in Taos could plummet to 9 degrees tonight, according to the agency. The low in Red River will also be 9 while Angel Fire will have a low of 7 degrees. 

Lows are expected to be in the mid-teens and highs in the mid-fifties throughout the week.
