Biography

Fay Wells passed away peacefully surrounded by family in her home on December 1st 2017. Fay was born in Taos, NM on November 26, 1932. She was a lifelong resident of Taos although she temporarily resided in Tucson, AZ for 22 years returning to Taos in 1998.

She is preceded in death by her beloved daughters, Alvera Boyer and MaryAnn Boyer Martinez and grandson Nestor E. Martinez, Jr. She is survived by her children, George Boyer (Carol), Sadie Boyer, Lilly Boyer Martinez (Albino), Clarence Boyer, Lisa Boyer Best (Don) her sister, Eva Martinez and her grandchildren all of who she dearly loved, Amy Seidel (Ron), Laura Rodriquez, Richard Martinez, (Cindy), Edwardo Martinez, Jill Boyer, Mark Martinez (Misty), Francisco Boyer, Lesley Moss (Steven), Antonia Martinez-Sholar (Rob), Joaquin and Emmanuel Romero, Yvette and Melissa Boyer, her stepchildren, Frank "Pancho" Wells, Penny Shannen (Tom), Kathy Chavez (Dennis), nineteen great-grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew and her constant companion, her beloved pet, Pepe.

Fay believed in community participation. She was an active member of both the Ranchos Presbyterian Church and during her residency in Tucson, AZ, the St Andrews Presbyterian Church. She was a consistent and generous donor to her Taos Community, donating annually to The Taos Community Foundation, Taos Men's Shelter and many other local and national organizations. She was a dedicated member of the Lions Club while residing in Tucson, AZ and an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Taos. She was also a faithful member of the Taos County Federated Republican Women. Fay waitressed for many years at the Taos Inn while raising her children and later was a local business owner operating the North Town Restaurant (now known as Taos Diner I).

Dearly precious to Fay in life was her family. Her number one priority was ensuring her children had all she could provide them; most importantly she always encouraged and helped them to get the best education possible. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and the void of her passing is immediately felt by all who loved her. Her family rejoices that God gave her a long life and now she will reside peacefully in His arms.

Funeral services for Fay will be held on Friday, December 8th at 10 AM at the Ranchos Presbyterian Church.
