Town of Taos Community Events, Taos Plaza merchants, Teresina Lane merchants, John Dunn Shops, Bent Street merchants and Taos Milagro Rotary Club are hosting a Halloween party for children of all ages and their families.
On Tuesday, Oct. 31, 3-6 p.m., the ghoulish fun will spill out from Taos Plaza over to Teresina Lane, slithering its way to the John Dunn Shops and Bent Street.
Merchants from all the around the town's historic district will be handing out candy to trick-or-treaters. Local businesses and organizations will provide decorated "trunks" full of treats for trick-or-treating and various carnival games with prizes.
The event includes a costume contest for three age groups. Prizes will be awarded to the child with the most original costume, funniest costume, best costume, best superhero costume, best recycled costume and best family costume. Children ages 3 and younger will be judged at 4:15 p.m., 4-6-year-olds at 5 p.m. and 7-11-year-olds at 5:45 p.m.
There is no fee to participate.
Organizations that would like to participate with carnival games or the trunk or treat should complete and submit an application no later than Friday (Oct. 13) at 2 p.m. in order for the carnival game and/or trunk or treat organization name to be included on a map. The application can be faxed to (575) 751-1432, emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the Civic Center Community Events Office located 120 Civic Plaza Drive.
