A lockdown initiated yesterday afternoon (May 2) at all state-run prison facilities in New Mexico is still in place, according to an update recieved this morning (May 3) from the New Mexico Corrections Department.
"We are still in lockdown," Public Affairs Coordinator Ashley Espinoza confirmed in an email this morning. "The department instituted the lockdown as a safety precaution in order to review security protocols."
The notice came via a Twitter message released by the New Mexico Corrections Department at 4:35 p.m. yesterday (May 2).
Officials at The Taos County Adult Detention Center stated yesterday that they were unaware and unaffected by the notice as of 4:45 p.m.
