The construction zone for an upgraded natural gas pipeline is now in the Río Grande Gorge on State Road 68, according to Tim Korte, the spokesperson for the company financing the $14 million project.
The work zone spans from near mile marker 28 to the Río Grande Gorge Visitor Center. Crews are continuing to reposition concrete barriers on the south end of the work area to extend the one-lane traffic restriction. The bore under the driveway to the visitor center was finished and connected to the pipeline last weekend.
Finishing touches on infrastructure north of Pilar was also completed.
