Outfitter apps for national forest due Feb. 15

Commercial outfitters and guides who provide hunting services on the Santa Fe National Forest have until Feb. 15, 2018 to apply for a new or amended special use authorization to operate in 2018, according to a press release by the agency.

A special use authorization is required to work as an outfitter and conduct guided hunts in national forests. Applications should be submitted to the ranger district where most of the activity will occur and must include the completed Standard Form (SF) 299, an operating plan, New Mexico Game and Fish outfitter registration card and maps showing the location of proposed activities. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

A workshop for hunters to better understand the permit application process and requirements is scheduled for Jan. 17 at the Santa Fe National Forest Supervisor's Office, 11 Forest Lane, Santa Fe.
