The Pizza Shack, a restaurant popular with year-round residents in Taos Ski Valley, is seeking a beer and wine license after a change in ownership last year.
The TSV business has been around for about six years and had a beer and wine license. However, when longtime employees Matthew Romo and Orlando Quintana took over the restaurant from former owner Brett Shipley in September, they had to apply for a new license, Romo said. The restaurant's been dry since.
Taking on the restaurant "felt like it was the next step," Romo said. "Me and Orlando and his wife [Kamal Jahrnarkt] all worked here for five or six years. We were head cooks and managers. We all started from the bottom."
A public hearing on the license will be held Jan. 15 at 2 p.m. at the Edelweiss Lodge, 110 Sutton Place.
Romo said they won't start looking for a beer distributor until after the hearing.
