The village of Questa, the Questa Economic Development Fund and the Questa community all came together Sept. 23 for a community-wide cleanup day and community meal. Nicholas Maestas, the new village administrator, led the charge by organizing state mowing crews, mobilizing village staff members and more.
Mayor Mark Gallegos was able to drum up several local sponsors for supplies and food. The Questa Economic Development Fund assisted with getting the word out.
"This is a good turnout," said Questa Councilor Brent Jaramillo in a statement.
The day showed the true heart of Questeños - rolling up their sleeves and coming together for the greater good. "I think we need to do this more often - there are lines at the dumpsters and they're filling up fast," said village Councilor John Anthony Ortega in a statement.
The event was topped off with a free barbecue lunch and a large grill that was full of hamburgers and hot dogs for all.
