It is with great pride and privilege that the family of Arturo Martinez announces his departure to Colorado Springs, Colorado, to continue his military journey at the United States Air Force Academy. The USAFA is one of the most prestigious and respected academic programs available, and as such, the academic admission standards are high.
Martinez was born in Taos in 1998. The fundamentals of Martinez's education began in the Taos Municipal Schools until his fifth-grade year, when he attended Albuquerque Public Schools. Martinez worked tirelessly on his academic preparations and ranked in the top 10 percent of his class. Martinez was a valued member of the Cibola varsity wrestling team for four years and a member of the U.S. Air National Guard Student Flight beginning his junior year of high school. Despite Martinez's chaotic schedule, he managed to balance his limited time off from school and extracurricular activities between family, friends, church and volunteer work.
Martinez has been preparing endlessly for this next phase of his life. Martinez's perseverance, focus, discipline, dedication and high moral character will attribute to his success in the competitive environment of the USAFA as he further develops his skills to be a great leader in the Air Force and of our great nation.
Martinez's family is proud of his accomplishments. "It has been a pleasure to watch you grow ... and the journey has just begun," said a letter from his family.
