A Taoseño, who wished to remain anonymous, has been in recovery from alcohol use disorder for four and a half years. He has been attending Our Lady of Guadalupe Church since first moving to Taos about five years ago. "I was brought up Catholic and got away from it during my drinking days," he said. "So coming to church feels like I’m back home." Taos County residents suffering from addiction have faced dwindling resources since the 2015 closure of Taos County's last social detox facility. The nine-bed detox center was run by Tri-County Community Services, a large behavioral health provider that folded entirely in August.
