The Taos County Sheriff's Office recovered a body from the river in the Río Grande Gorge on Monday (April 13), but the remains have not yet been identified. Taos County Undersheriff Steve Miera said in a press release that his office was alerted to an abandoned vehicle in the area of the Río Grande Gorge Bridge last Friday (April 10), leading him to suspect that the person pulled from the river on Monday had likely jumped from the bridge and landed in the river. The body was first spotted by local rafters about 1/2 mile downriver from the bridge. more
