Child injured in ATV crash in El Prado

Posted

A child riding an all-terrain-vehicle sustained serious injuries when they were struck by a vehicle traveling on Straight Arrow Road in El Prado Monday evening (Sept. 24), according to Taos County Emergency Services Chief Chris Medina.

First responders headed to the scene of the crash at around 7:15 p.m. and came upon the ATV, the injured child and another vehicle.

Medina said the child, who he believed to be under 10 years old, was in serious condition and was immediately transported by ambulance to Holy Cross Hospital.

The total number of people riding in either vehicle or other injuries are unknown.

Around 9:30 p.m., Medina said the child was being "stabilized for air transport," but did not know the medical center the boy would be flown to.
