Coyote killing contests cut on state land

State Land Commissioner Stephanie García Richard has ended "killing contests" of coyotes on state trust land throughout New Mexico.

The decision was inked in her first executive order. Such contests have become extremely controversial in recent years, though attempts to ban them in the state legislature have failed.
