Permits will be sold at the main Carson National Forest office in Taos only two days a week until further notice.
The forest "is in the process of hiring and training our new customer service representatives" and not all employees are certified to sell permits, according to a press release.
For those reasons, permits are available Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. The forest is still encouraging people to call to make sure someone is on hand to sell permits. All other forest offices will be open for permit sales during regular business hours.
