Taos County law enforcement officers are searching for an armed robber who entered Pacheco's High Road Market in Peñasco wearing a white bandana Monday afternoon (Nov. 11), fired a shot from a handgun and then stole money from a cash register.

The caller who reported the incident to Taos Central Dispatch on Monday was inside the store when the robber entered and fired the shot, according to reports overheard on emergency radio channels.

The caller said the robber then left the store in an unknown direction, according to the report.

Several minutes later, a dispatcher reported that a driver in a blue and white late model Dodge Ram was driving erratically at a high rate of speed on Highway 518 toward Ranchos de Taos.

Another report from a second caller from the site of the alleged robbery in Peñasco indicated that the robber may have fled in a white Toyota.
