Martin Frank Cardenas, 1960-2018

Age 58 a Brigittine Monk of the Order of the Most Holy Savior, has gone to his rest in the arms

of the Lord, February 6, 2018. He was born on January 21, 1960 in Taos New Mexico. He
entered the religious life with the Brigittine Monks in Amity, Oregon on April 30, 1992 and
professed his vows July 24, 1993. This year he would have celebrated his Silver Anniversary. He
was the Master Truffle Maker of the Monastery Confectionary, Sacristan and Guest Master.
Prior to joining the monastery Bro. Martin was the Administrator for the Village of Questa. A
vigil was held on February 16, 2018 and his funeral was held February 17, 2018 at The Brigittine
Monastery in Amity, OR. The Most Reverend John G. Vlazny, Archbishop Emeritus of the
Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon presided. His Brethren in the religious life and The Cardenas
Family express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to all those who joined them in their
prayers for Brother Martin during his time of sickness and pray that God will bless each one of
them abundantly. Brother Martin is pre-ceded in death by his father Luis Cardenas. He is
survived by his mother Cora Cardenas, brothers Avenancio and Mennard Cardenas; sisters
Mara Ramos (Bobby), Veronica Lamendola (John), Angela Paras (Michael); nephews and nieces
Nicole O'Donnell (Terrance), Brian Ramos, Kevin and Eric Lamendola, Annalee and Cora Paras.
Great nephews are Terrence III and Bobby O'Donnell.
