Meetings this week: State historian on voting rights, entrepreneurs gather

Monday, January 14:  Rick Hendricks, the New Mexico State Historian, will give a talk on the long struggle for women and Native American voting rights at the Taos Democratic Party Headquarters, 729-A Paseo del Pueblo Sur. The event is from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, January 15:  Taos Entrepreneurial Network hosts a talk by Luis Reyes, CEO of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative and Kit Carson Telecom. Networking begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Taos Valley Lodge.  Reyes will discuss the companies' work with small businesses and projects currently underway to increase solar power and broadband. 

Kit Carson was awarded a $45 million grant and an accompanying $19 million loan from the American Recovery and Reinvestment to bring high speed broadband to more than two dozen rural communities in Northern New Mexico.
