Meteorologists from the National Weather Service are predicting light snow for tonight, Tuesday (Feb. 18), and tomorrow (Feb. 19), with more precipitation expected over the weekend.

NWS forecasters are expecting light snow over the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and adjacent highlands tonight into Wednesday. Accumulations of a  few inches or less are expected with occasional visibility reductions.

High elevation locales in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and also the Ratón Pass may also receive a couple of inches of fresh snow accumulation Wednesday night and Thursday (Feb. 20) as a potent cold front passes through.

More precipitation is expected Friday night and Saturday (Feb. 21-22), according to meteorologists, as a strong low-pressure system moves into the region, bringing widespread areas of rain and high elevation snow.
