Lisa Comer Hamilton has accepted the position of Superintendent of Peñasco Independent School District, effective July 1. She replaces Marvin MacAuley, who recently took on the Mora superintendent’s job. A former teacher in Santa Fe Public Schools and New York City Public Schools, Hamilton has served for the last 12 years as data analysis chief and education administrator with the New Mexico Public Education Department.

Hamilton is certified to teach Early Childhood Education and K-8 in New Mexico and New York and is licensed as a K-12 Administrator in New Mexico. She holds a B.A. from Hunter College and an M.S. from Lehman College, both campuses of the City University of New York. 

Hamilton oversees a total staff of 17 and a student body of 362. She manages a budget of $4,479,306 and receives an annual salary of $101,400.
