More than 1,000 miles from Louisiana, Mardi Gras celebrations resounded in the snow-capped mountains of Red River over the weekend (Feb. 22-23), drawing crowds from all over the country.

A unique blend of Cajun and Creole culture and Red River traditions, the weeklong Mardi Gras in the Mountains treated guests and locals to costume balls, bead tossing, parades, crawfish boils, cook-offs and downhill gator races. The Northern New Mexico town has been taking part in Mardi Gras for more than 25 years.
