Police blotter


The following is a condensed version of Taos Police Department reports from Feb. 28 through March 5.

Feb. 28

9:10 a.m. Traffic accident, no injury, Taos Police Department – A walk-in stated that her vehicle had been hit by another vehicle at the bypass Shell gas station. The driver in the other vehicle had fled the scene of the accident.

11:36 a.m. Missing juvenile, Alexander Street – The caller wanted an officer to check for a missing woman she believed might be at Napa Auto Parts.

11:54 a.m. Animal stray, Bent Street – A butterscotch-colored pit bull was running in and out of traffic. It did have a collar and tags.

2:49 p.m. Shoplifting, Albertsons – A thin blonde woman stole some items and then took off in a vehicle.

6:35 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Paseo del Pueblo Sur – A woman who is a victim in a rape investigation said that a suspicious man had arrived at her residence to ask her questions. She said she did not know who the man was.

March 1

9:04 a.m. Animal stray, Murray Lane – The caller said that they had found a small black dog with broken back legs at their house. They wanted animal control to come pick it up.

12:36 p.m. Narcotics offense juvenile, Taos High School – The caller wanted to report a juvenile in possession of cocaine.

1:14 p.m. Shoplifting, Albertsons – A woman had stolen at least $200 worth of items.

6:04 p.m. Welfare check, Cid’s – A woman inside the store had black eyes. The caller suspected that someone had beaten her up.

11:13 p.m. Domestic disturbance, El Camino Lodge – A physical domestic incident was in progress at the motel.

March 2

1:56 a.m. Trespassing, Sun God Motel – People were trying to break into a vacant building on the property.

8:09 a.m. Welfare check, Albright Street – A man in a red jacket was screaming at people and kicking the bus stop.

9:27 a.m. Narcotics offense juvenile, Taos Middle School – A female student was in possession of marijuana.

10:06 a.m. Trespassing, Camino de la Serna – The caller said squatters were living in the house and wanted them removed.

2:38 p.m. Welfare check, Smith’s – A man was sitting by the outer wall yelling profanities.

6:10 p.m. Welfare check, Enos Garcia Elementary – The caller said a man wearing a black jacket was trying to get into the building.

March 3

1:17 p.m. Trespassing, Paseo del Pueblo Sur – A woman was squatting and leaving trash in the area.

3:09 p.m. Larceny, Shank – The caller said their phone had been stolen from Shank earlier in the day. They were using a cell phone tracking app to locate it. The app indicated the phone was somewhere along Highway 64.

4:37 p.m. Welfare check, Walmart – A man was slipping in and out of consciousness on the side of Walmart, where the payphones used to be.

5:03 p.m. Burglary residential, Liebert Street – The caller said that his brother’s residence had been burglarized. He said that drawers in the house had been pulled out and a cedar chest had been opened. He wasn’t yet sure what had been taken.

8:05 p.m. Traffic accident, no injury, Walmart – An employee had just left work and noticed that someone had hit his car.

8:41 p.m. Narcotics offense adult, Holy Cross Hospital – The caller said a man had a pipe with weed in it and rolling papers with filters. They wanted to speak with an officer about this.

March 4

5:37 a.m. Burglary commercial, The Coffee Spot – The caller said that someone had broken into their business and stolen the safe.

10:52 a.m. Welfare check, Charles Collins Gallery – A man outside the business in the plaza appeared to be drunk or on drugs. The man was walking with a dog but was sniffing or drinking something, nearly falling over.

1:04 p.m. Theft-identity, El Monte Sagrado – A guest was missing a wallet and believed a valet had taken it.

2:59 p.m. Sex offense adult, Carson Trail – The caller was with a woman whom they believed had been drugged with GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate).and then sexually assaulted.

6:24 p.m. Loitering, Dollar Tree – An intoxicated male customer was harassing customers and refusing to leave.

March 5

8:35 a.m. Traffic accident, no injury, Walmart – The caller said his vehicle had been hit by another vehicle in the parking lot.

8:52 a.m. Welfare check, Cid’s – The caller said that a woman at the store appeared to have been beaten up.

9:26 a.m. Law, unknown problem, Taos High School – Law enforcement had detained a student.

11:51 a.m. Property found, Paseo del Pueblo Norte – A roofer found a backpack containing what appeared to be a man’s belongings and a passport.

2:05 p.m. Suspicious circumstance, Valverde Street – The caller said she found a syringe close to her house and wanted an officer to pick it up.

2:15 p.m. Information report, Taos Police Department – An elderly man was hallucinating and needed to be checked out.

3:43 p.m. Loitering, Super Save – A man on a pedal bike was harassing people in the parking lot and asking for money.

4:31 p.m. Burglary automobile, Camino de la Placita – The caller said that his vehicle had been broken into earlier in the day.
