Repairs underway on Ranchos water system

Posted

Residents in Ranchos de Taos should have water again by Friday evening.

That assessment came from Jesse Miera, the operator of the water system, who is currently making repairs to the pump that went down Sunday (Sept. 16).  He expects the system to have water again within "three to four hours," he said at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Residents have been with low or no water pressure throughout the week.
The water system has a set of three pumps. One malfunctioned and the remaining two pumps couldn't keep up with demand. The situation is reminiscent of the water outage in Taos earlier this year.

Though no bacteria has been found in the system, during times of low pressure or water outages, it's suggested residents boil water before using it.

The Ranchos de Taos MDWCA is a separate system than the Talpa MDWCA or the El Valle de los Ranchos Water and Sanitation District; representatives for both of those systems said there was no issue in their water infrastructure.
