Peñasco Independent Schools are on a two-hour delay today (Feb. 20) after a snowstorm swept across Northern New Mexico overnight. Chama and Cimarron schools also are on a two-hour delay. Taos schools were scheduled to have class as usual.
Following the storm, temperatures plummeted across the region with the highs expected to be several degrees below normal, according to the National Weather Service in Albuquerque. The highs in Taos are expected to reach in the mid-30s, with Angel Fire and Red River staying in the mid-20s.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 8 a.m., with warnings of blowing snow and continued light snowfall across Taos County.
