Taos artist Tom Noble died early this week "peacefully at home," according to a notice posted by art gallery owner Rob Nightingale on social media Friday morning (Feb. 24).
"Tom's family will be having a memorial to celebrate his life at Wilder Nightingale Fine Art on Wednesday, March 8th from 4-7 p.m.," Nightingale's notice reads.
The gallery is located at 119 Kit Carson Road in Taos.
"There is a great video of Tom on his website being interviewed when he received the 2010 Governors Award for Excellence in the Arts,' Nightingale adds. It can be seen at http://www.tomnobleart.com.
In a biographical statement on his Facebook, Noble is described as "a native Taoseño [who] has seen many changes in Taos and northern New Mexico throughout his lifetime, but he still lives a simple and environmentally friendly lifestyle in the semi-rural and community-oriented town that is Taos. The inspiration for his art comes from the areas in and around Taos that remain much as they were when he was child."
