The Taos Community Foundation mission to fund organizations that build a more creative, caring and thriving community in the region will be enhanced through a donation of $250,000 from Taos Ski Valley.
Throughout the 2016-2017 ski season, Taos Ski Valley raised the funds by earmarking a portion of each nightly stay at The Blake at Taos Ski Valley for the Foundation, encouraging Ski Valley employees to make direct contributions, and through its community give-back days. Louis Bacon's Taos Ski Valley Foundation provided $150,000 for this effort, according to the organization.
"We are thrilled to have a partnership with Taos Ski Valley - a preeminent business in Taos County, and a resort that helps to put our region on the national map," said Lisa O'Brien, director of the Taos Community Foundation in a statement. "The significant fundraising efforts from Taos Ski Valley is a beautiful gift to our entire community, and we are delighted to guide the donation into action."
The funding established the Taos Ski Valley Charitable Fund at the foundation, which will boost the upcoming community grant cycle that is currently underway.
"What started as a conversation last summer has led to a solid relationship between our two organizations, and is reflective of the strong value we share in creating impact," O'Brien said.
"Earlier this year, Taos Ski Valley became a Certified B Corporation, by demonstrating our commitment to deliberate and thoughtful social, economic and environmental actions," said David Norden, chief executive officer of TSV, Inc. "This is an achievement we are very proud of, and we intend to expand our community development efforts into the future, including through this partnership with Taos Community Foundation."
"The Taos Community Foundation does incredible work to enrich the lives and opportunities of Taos-area citizens and to protect the environment that sustains us," Norden said. "We are proud to contribute to their efforts."
