Trinity Ortiz, a 3-year-old Peñasco girl, and her mother, Destiney Wilkerson, who allegedly adbucted the child, have been located by the Río Arriba County Sheriff's Office and are safely in custody, officials said in an update Thursday afternoon (June 1).

Wilkerson, 33, of Española, had allegedly kidnapped the toddler during a scheduled visitation at Picuris Lakes, according to Taos County Sheriff Jerry Hogrefe, who confirmed that Ortiz's father, Beto Ortiz, has "full custody of the child through the courts."

A custodial interference warrant was issued through the FBI National Crime Information Center for Wilkerson's arrest. The suspect was last seen driving a white Nissan sedan with tinted windows and a "large dent" in the passenger side.

Anyone with information regarding the abduction is asked to contact the Taos County Sheriff's Office dispatch line at (575) 758-2216 or Taos County Crime Stoppers at (575) 758-HALT to submit a tip anonymously.
