Acequia finance workshop

Is your acequia looking for money to repair ditches? Worried about meeting state requirements for an audit? Check out the upcoming workshop sponsored by the New Mexico Acequia Association.

Acequia Pathways to Funding: Financial Compliance Workshop is scheduled 9 a.m. - noon Thursday (April 19) at the Nambe Community Center in Nambe.

The workshop will help commissioners and acequia board treasurers learn about the financial responsibilities of the ditch organizations and how to comply with state audit and budget requirements.

The workshop also can help elected officials of land grant associations and mutual domestic water consumers associations.

Alcalde hosts seed exchange

Farmers and backyard gardeners from around Northern New Mexico gather April 21 in Alcalde for the 13th Annual Seed Exchange.

The seed exchange takes place from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. at Los Luceros Historic Ranch on County Road 48 off of State Road 68.

Seed savers and those who want to grow New Mexico-hardy plants from seed are invited to join in the exchange. Native, organic and heirloom seeds of all types will be gathered and distributed.
