The veterans assistance organization, Not Forgotten Outreach, welcomed the public to join in the opening of its new community garden from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 21).
The nonprofit recently acquired the Mitchell property, known locally as Corral No.5, and will be transitioning the land into a community garden for veterans and families in Taos. The organization invited the public to take a stroll around the 28-acre farm for the first time to celebrate the addition to the organization.
The property, across from Cid's on Paseo Del Pueblo Norte, will serve NFO through various projects in the future and will eventually hold such amenities as a walking path, veterans memorial and more.
The organization invited families to join in a picnic and a gathering at the field. Snacks were provided, but picnic foods and non-alcoholic drinks were also welcome.
