As part of its 5th Annual veterans' appreciation week, Taos nonprofit Not Forgotten Outreach held a special ski week for active military, veterans and their families at Taos Ski Valley.

Between Jan. 16 and 21, TSV will be offering $35 full-day lift tickets to vets and their immediate families, free ski and board rentals and discounted group lessons and child care.

NFO holds the annual event to give veterans a week of appreciation at the ski valley. Veterans with valid IDs from all backgrounds and organizations are welcome to participate in the event and will even be allowed to join in a dinner at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday (Jan. 20) at Tenderfoot Katie's in the ski valley.

More than 1,500 military families attended the event in 2016, and NFO is expecting higher numbers this year. According to information from the nonprofit, this is the largest gathering of military families at a ski resort nationally.

The appreciation week has been held since 2013 and continued through Louis Bacon's purchase of the ski area, which was founded by World War II veteran, Ernie Blake.
